At the start of 2021, gas suppliers were looking forward to sustained growth in India’s LNG imports, aided by low prices and post-pandemic economic recovery. Instead, a spot price surge savaged demand in the world’s fourth-largest LNG buyer and imports contracted for the first time since 2014.
