The January natural gas futures contract slid 3.1¢ in light trading to roll of the board at $4.024 per million Btu. “We ended December with heating degree days well below normal and even with that weakness ... the January natural gas prices were over $4.00,” PRICE Futures analyst Phil Flynn said. “What that tells us of course is if we get into a more normal pattern of winter soon, natural gas prices could rally pretty hard. The global demand picture and record LNG exports from the US should keep the market supported but we all know that for natural gas Mother Nature has the last say.”
