Biofuels Prospects Brighten Despite Lingering Doubts

Biofuels have had a long and complicated history. Mostly blended for end-use with conventional liquid fuels, biofuels have also attracted much attention over the years from the oil industry, and remain an important part of the energy transition strategies of a number of majors, including BP, Royal Dutch Shell, Total and Eni. With more countries adopting net-zero plans, and looking to biofuels as part of the solution, demand is expected to grow in the next few years. However, a number of uncertainties are still clouding prospects.
