Ontario Power Generation (OPG) this week selected GE-Hitachi’s BWRX-300 small modular reactor (SMR) for OPG’s "grid-scale" SMR newbuild project at its site in Darlington, Ontario, where it hopes to launch construction by the end of 2025. For the past year OPG has been evaluating the GE-Hitachi design against two others: Terrestrial Energy's 195 megawatt Integral Molten Salt Reactor, and X-energy's 75 MW Xe-100 high-temperature gas reactor.
