The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) said this week that the world is currently on track for a global temperature rise of at least 2.7°C this century. The UNEP Emissions Gap Report said new and updated "nationally determined contributions" would only result in a 7.5% reduction in emissions by 2030, while a 55% reduction is needed to meet the Paris Agreement goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
