Dutch sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supplier SkyNRG has partnered with Norwegian climate-tech company Chooose to develop a “Fly on SAF” app, which airlines and travel companies can integrate into their online booking systems. Fly on SAF allows business and leisure passengers to mitigate their flight emissions with SAF and/or carbon offsets at the point of purchase. Previous schemes like Lufthansa's Compensaid are entirely separate from the booking process. “People don’t want to be bothered with a tedious purchasing process, so we needed to develop a process where people can reduce their footprint with just a few clicks," Chooose Head of Products Toina Ljostad said at the Oct. 27 launch. “The solution can be embedded on a partner’s website or integrated into the customer’s digital checkout process, and can be used for any airline and route, at any moment in time,” she added. “Fly on SAF shows how collaboration can push innovation forward,” said SkyNRG Managing Director Theye Veen. “Our goal is to change the way the world flies and make climate action easy and available for everyone,” he added. Early users of Fly on SAF include Heathrow, Rotterdam The Hague and Stuttgart airports as well as music festival organizers Eurosonic and DGTL.
