Russian President Vladimir Putin is trying to use the global energy crisis to persuade European gas customers to turn back to long-term contracts. He and other Russian officials claim Europe's greater reliance on spot supply is “a mistake” and the main cause of sky-high prices. The calls will likely fall on deaf ears.
