Lukoil is increasing its investments at home and overseas. Russia's top independent oil producer plans to invest some 300 billion rubles ($4 billion) on an expansion of its Stavrolen petrochemicals plant in southern Russia by 2026-27. Lukoil started construction of a second gas-processing unit so that the plant can offtake up to 5 Bcm/yr from the company's fields in the northern part of the Caspian Sea.

New sanctions underline the US' opposition to Nord Stream 2 but they are unlikely to stop the project.
