Tatneft to Maximize Reserves Monetization

Russia's Tatneft will not amend oil production growth plans despite the low-carbon energy transition and will instead strive to monetize reserves before the oil era ends, company management said last week. The strategy coincides with a broad understanding in Russia that oil and gas will still have a crucial role in the global energy balance over the next couple decades and that producers should capitalize on their assets underground while there is still demand for hydrocarbons.

The EU sees an accelerated transition as a long-term remedy against a new gas crisis, while Russia keeps its faith with fossil fuels.
