October gas futures paused recent volatility to remain unchanged at $4.805 per million Btu Wednesday. The contract is consolidating a four-consecutive session, 65.5¢ drop triggered by a bearish storage report Sep. 16. Thursday's storage data could also be critical to near-term market direction (see below). The contract traded in a $4.744-$4.898 range. The 12-month strip was up 1.7¢ to $4.258; the 2022 strip edged up 1.9¢ to $3.98 (Futures contracts).
