Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific airline has committed to a 10% ratio of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in its total fuel usage by 2030, the company said in a Sep. 20 statement. The move is part of the airline's pledge to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The airline has also pledged to cut its absolute ground emissions by 32% from the 2018 baseline by 2030, through energy-saving measures and exploring renewable energy options in its premises and ground operations.

As European consumers face a winter of presumably high energy prices, Brussels is discussing ways to cushion the blow.
