Refining Runs Surge as Russians Enjoy Summer

Throughput at Russia’s refineries in August reached a 17-month high as operators, under pressure from the state, scrambled to crank out enough product to meet rising demand and tuck away additional volumes to tide the country over during fall turnarounds. Notably, output of jet fuel skyrocketed, even eclipsing the record high posted in June 2018.

Urals crude is under pressure after Saudi Arabia cut its November official selling prices, while the European diesel market enters a period of increasing tightness.
