Investor pressure continues to build on oil and gas companies with increasing demands that they establish clear pathways toward becoming net-zero businesses. The latest investor initiative will see Europe’s six biggest major oil companies, and US independent Occidental Petroleum, work with a group of leading asset managers to pilot the new Net Zero Standard for Oil and Gas. Led by the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC), the move sends a clear message that all oil and gas companies are expected to put net-zero strategies in place and soon.
