Asian Demand, Hurricane Fears Send Prices Soaring Again

Northeast Asian spot LNG prices jumped $2.40 to $18.50 per million Btu, according to World Gas Intelligence assessments for deliveries four to eight weeks ahead. Spot prices in Southwest Europe were assessed $2.30 higher at $17/MMBtu. The UK National Balancing Point (NBP) day-ahead price was assessed $2.86 higher at $17.09/MMBtu, while the ICE October front-month contract jumped $2.30 to $16.87/MMBtu. Netbacks for Mideast sellers in Asia were about $1.50/MMBtu higher than in Southwest Europe, while UK/Belgian netbacks were almost $4.40/MMBtu lower than in Asia.
