After years of international controversy and US sanctions, Gazprom’s Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline to Germany might be completed as soon as Sep. 12. For Europe, where there is growing supply and price anxiety ahead of winter, a launch of the pipeline this autumn would ease pressure on markets, but politics could still have the final word.

Public pressure and high natural gas prices may not be enough to solve the methane waste problem plaguing the Permian Basin.
