Save for later Print Download Share LinkedIn Twitter Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Exxon Mobil are set to resume talks on the development of the P’nyang gas project, which is designed to feed an additional brownfield train at Exxon’s producing PNG LNG project. Petroleum Minister Kerenga Kua said in a joint statement issued with Exxon Mobil that “a series of workshops regarding the development of the P’nyang gas fields will take place over the next couple of weeks and if all goes well, we can expect to sign a P’nyang heads of agreement around the end of this next month and a gas agreement thereafter.” P’nyang’s development stalled in February 2020 after PNG and Exxon failed to agree on fiscal terms (LNGI Feb.4'20). The announced talks revive the prospect of PNG LNG’s third train and TotalEnergies’ proposed Papua LNG project to be developed simultaneously to achieve synergies and cost savings. However, PNG said earlier this year that Total would proceed separately from Exxon with its two-train LNG project (LNGI Feb.9'21).
