The upward tick registered by Energy Intelligence's Uranium Price Panel, of $31.52 per pound U3O8 on Jun. 3 from $31.13/lb. a week earlier, may presage further upward movement this summer. The volume of new outstanding requests for proposals is notable and spread across uranium, conversion, enrichment and enriched uranium product markets. Interest is from utilities in the US, across the EU, in East Asia and in South America. Also of note is spot activity from a new low-profile Canadian-based uranium holding fund, and from a small nonproducing US junior miner.
