TC Energy has issued a non-binding Request for Information to 100 companies seeking potential contracts and/or investment opportunities in wind energy projects. The goal is to generate up to 620 megawatts of zero-carbon energy to meet the electricity needs for a portion of its pipeline assets in the Central US. The RFI includes projects in the Southwest Power Pool, Midwest Independent System Operator and Electric Reliability Council of Texas. TC Energy did not specify which of its pipelines are involved in the plan. * * * Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has appointed Peter Lake, chairman of the Texas Water Development Board, to lead the Public Utility Commission of Texas. If he is confirmed by the state Senate, Lake would serve as chairman of the PUC through Sep. 1, 2023, taking over an agency dealing with the fallout of the catastrophic power failures in February that led to the deaths of nearly 200 Texans. All three members of the previous commission have resigned in its wake. Abbott also nominated Will McAdams to serve on the PUC pending Senate confirmation. McAdams is a long-time legislative staffer and the president of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Texas, a trade group.
