Petroleum Intelligence Weekly Announces the Complete PIW Archives, 1963 - Present

— An Indispensable Tool for Analyzing the Global Energy Industry —

Petroleum Intelligence Weekly has expanded its PIW archive database back to 1963. Now for the first time you can search PIW to mine the complete history of our coverage from 1963 to the present.

With PIW's Expanded Archive Search Tool, you can now access PIW's unique archive database that includes our analysis of the key trends, events, corporate strategy and deals, and market developments throughout the global oil and gas industry's development.
    Here's how you can use the PIW Archives:

  • Identify trends, spot market consequences, and track corporate strategy
  • Analyze the history of corporate transactions, mergers, and deals
  • Track the coverage of a single company, sector, or E&P region
    The PIW Archives include:

  • A complete web-based archive database of Petroleum Intelligence Weekly comprising all PIW issues from 1963 to the present — more than 50,000 articles from more than 2,000 back issues.

  • Online index with all issues available in downloadable PDFs and/or HTML layouts
    • January 1963 - December 1989 available in downloadable PDFs
    • January 1990 - December 1997 available in web-based HTML files
    • January 1997 - Present available in both downloadable PDFs & HTML files

  • Additional features from January 2001 to the present include:
    • Extensive cross-references to related PIW articles enable you to track PIW coverage over time
    • Customized service allows you to save searches for later use with the "Select Query" option and to enroll in an email alert service to be notified about future articles relevant to your saved searches
    • The ability to create and save search refinements from over 200 menu-based criteria within country, company, and/or energy topic
Petroleum Intelligence Weekly's Expanded Archive Search Tool >

Create searches based on a key word or phrase, the publication date range of an article, the headline, the full text of an article, or both (the default). Wildcard searches with an asterisk and boolean search forms are supported.

Optional search refinements are found further on: select specific news services, countries, companies, and/or topics from the menus. Registered users may also save searches for later use (details at the end of this page).

The maximum number of hits is 100. If your search results contain 100 or more items, try to refine the key words or limit the date range.

Put phrase in quotes; AND / OR / NOT [boolean] search can be used.
Use * with stem or partial word to find all forms:
eg, Kazak* returns Kazak, Kazakh, Kazakstan, Kazakhstan, etc.

Creating and Editing Your Saved Query

This feature is available to any registered user. You do not need to be a full subscriber to make use of the Saved Query function.

To create and save a new Query, make sure no previous Saved Query is selected below (ie, "Saved Query Name" below should display "--Select Saved Query--"). Then select your search criteria, give the new query a name, and click the Save button.

To edit an existing Saved Query, select it from the Saved Query list, modify the search criteria displayed on the page, and click the Save button.

To delete an existing Saved Query, select it from the Saved Query list and click the Delete button.
