David Knapp has 30 years of energy experience in the international, government, and financial sectors. Dr. Knapp has served as the head of the International Energy Agency's Oil Industry and Markets Division and as Energy Chief Economist and leader of the energy group for Brown Brothers and Harriman. Prior to that he worked at the US Energy Information Administration in Washington and the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York.
Ronan Kavanagh has 18 years experience as a journalist and editor covering the energy sector, the last ten of which have been with Energy Intellligence. He has most recently served as editor of Nefte Compass, which covers the FSU, and prior to that as Managing Editor of International Oil Daily. Ronan has extensive experience covering the power and renewable sectors for World Gas Intelligence, as well environmental issues that affect the energy sector and downstream and midstream oil markets for other Energy Intelligence publications including Energy Compass, Petroleum Intelligence Weekly and Jet Fuel Intelligence. Previously, Ronan covered the energy sector as a senior reporter for Dow Jones Newswires. Ronan is a graduate of University College Dublin in Ireland.
Ian Nathan analyzes international oil, gas, and security matters in the Middle East, FSU, and Asian regions. In addition to undertaking wide-ranging client-specific studies, he has written extensively for World LNG Review 2008 and provided substantial content for the Almanac of Russian and Caspian Petroleum, International Crude Oil Market Handbook and The Energy Intelligence Top 100: Ranking the World's Oil Companies. Prior to joining EIR, Ian served as Associate Director, Energy and Geopolitical Research, at Burnham Securities Inc., and Associate Vice President, Energy and Geopolitical Research, at Hoenig & Co., Inc., both in New York. He has an MA in International Political Economy and Development from Fordham University in New York and a BA in Political Science from The George Washington University in Washington, DC.
Jared Anderson has conducted research in various capacities in the crude oil and natural gas spaces. In addition to working on single-client studies ranging from FSU hydrocarbon resources to global gas production and pricing, he has also contributed to the World LNG Review 2008, Almanac of Russian and Caspian Petroleum, International Crude Oil Market Handbook and The Energy Intelligence Top 100: Ranking the World's Oil Companies. Jared worked in environmental consulting for several years prior to joining EIR. He holds an MS in International Relations with a focus on energy studies from New York University and a BS in Environmental Studies from the University of Oregon.
Amanda Burton has extensive experience in the energy markets, having worked as a reporter covering the power and gas markets for both Petroleum Argus and Heren Energy since 1999, when liberalisation was taking hold. She subsequently undertook a freelance project in India, writing on power sector reform and LNG. More recently, she has concentrated on the renewable energy sector, working within renewables companies to analyse the financial and commercial aspects of renewable energy, and spending a year with the European Wind Energy Association as a Policy Advisor responsible for economic and climate change issues. She holds an MA in Philosophy from Edinburgh University and MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College, London, with a special course in Global Environmental Policy and Change.
Rana Samaha has worked on international oil, gas and energy policy issues. Rana previously served as an economist with the United Nations Development Program and the Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Trade in Beirut, and has taught International Finance and Economics at the Lebanese American University and the American University of Beirut. Rana holds an MSc in Global Market Economics from the London School of Economics in London, as well as a BA in Economics with a minor in Political Science from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon.
Niamh Kenny has 20 year's experience as a journalist and editor covering the international finance, commodities and energy sectors, and has specialized for the past 15 years on the global electricity markets. Niamh was editor of Financial Times Energy's Power in Europe for seven years, was a founding editor of Power in Latin America, and consultant editor to Power in Asia. Prior to joining EIR, she served as Electricity Data Editor at Argus Media and was a director of Energy Partnership and contributor to its Global Energy publication. She is a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin.
Philip Shaw has 15 years experience working in and as an advisor to the energy industry. Philip's areas of expertise cover both Upstream and Downstream and he has had a number of papers published by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, author of numerous magazine articles and also presented at the World Petroleum Congress (Beijing 2004).
Dominic Murphy has worked for clients within the Oil and Gas and Financial Services industries for over five years. Dominic's areas of focus have predominatly been within Upstream and Gas and Power sectors covering competitor analysis, due dilligence, risk analysis, project management and business development. Dominic has worked for a range of clients across Europe, India and North America.
