Summary
Soaring construction costs may not be the only reason Exxon Mobil and state Qatar Petroleum (QP) elected to shelve their Palm gas-to-liquids (GTL) project, PIW has learned. Instead, Qatar's own rapidly rising internal gas demand and concerns about North Field reservoir quality also appear to have contributed to the decision to halt the project.
